A Family Decision

Kasala and I had a talk about what we should do with our family blog. He strongly earged me to delete my last post and as you can see... I did it. We also decided that we need to make our blog private. There are just to many nosey people around here who are just looking for something to hold and use against you. So by Friday, we're are going to make our blog private. If you want to view it.... leave your email address and we'll add you. This blog was intended for my friends and family near and far to be able to keep in touch and see what we are up to here in hawaii. So yeah... leave me your email address cause we are making our blog private.

Sitting at School

I have been teaching now for 3 days. Well.. actually only 1 which is today but I have been here for 3. The teacher I am subbing for was suppose to give birth some time next week is when I was suppose to start. She gave birth on Saturday night.... I really wasn't excited to start a week early. I wasn't prepared either.... I'm still not to be honest. Anyways.. things are going well I guess. It's nice to be back in a classroom that I'm not going to leave the next day. The kids for the most part are really good. The EA that works in here says I have really good control over the kids and that he's excited to work in here with me. That made me feel good. So I'm at school right now and not able to post up pictures but a lot has happened! I did end up taking Terina to Kapiolani childrens hospital (thank you Iwa). We drove into town, sat in the ER for a while and then left with the same conclusion from the doctor. This time they actually poked and looked and talked about Terina and the bites on her body. They also said that they weren't sure what they were but probably bug bites and if they get worse to come back. It wasn't a total waste of a day. We went to Ferrell's after for lunch and then she knocked out on the way home. The ProBowl was last Sunday which meant NFL football pros all over the island. The one night Terina and I decided to go to PCC to watch the night show we actually ended up in bed. Unfortunately that was the night that Troy Polumalu was there with his family. Kasala was happy and he got to meet him and talk with him after the show. I guess they all had his number painted on their bodies throughout the night show. He was very happy and very excited to meet him.Besides that nothing else is going on. We're happy, somewhat healthy (poor Terina and these bites) and getting by. I'm really sad that we aren't able to be in Washington with everyone this weekend. Mike is moving in to his first apartment and of course Mom and Dad are going over to "help" him out. I hope they have fun and that we'll get to see pictures.

Rainbow School, Dates and chicken pox

Terina started her new day care on Monday while I am substituting. I have only had 3 jobs so far but I have 2 more scheduled for next week at the Elementary School in 4th grade. I worked with those kids in Math and language arts so I'm a little excited I guess. I also got a call on Monday from an expecting mother for a 6 week long term substituting position! I'm super excited about that because it's in social studies. We'll do the industrial revolution, westward expansion and start the Civil War... all things I did during student teaching! I have some great things that we could do. I'll have to tweak it because these are 8th graders and I student taught with 11th grade Honors students but I think it'll work. I also still have all my lesson plans too. Anyways.. back to Rainbow School. Terina loves it! She's singing a song that she learned about the weather right. All I can make out is "what's the weather, what's the weather...." I don't know what she's saying past that. Anyways... I have dropped her off a little later these past 2 days and have seen Terina get to school, go right to the bathroom and wash her hands and then get ready for breakfast. She goes outside with the rest of her class and sits at picnic tables to eat. What she does past that I don't know but when I go pick her up she is so excited to see me and tell me what she did. Well, I didn't have a job yesterday or today which is kind of a bummer but I got to get somethings done while Terina was at school. I made a trip to town to sort out her Child Care papers and went to Walmart... BY MYSELF!! It was great!I got all my shopping done with no problems. I even made a stop a ROSS just to walk around! Today Kasala got done with class early and we decided to go out shopping again for some things for the house. And again... we went alone.. we even had a nice lunch together with no problems! I do feel a little bad that I'm home and she's at Rainbow School but she loves it there! She's learning so much and learning how to get along with other kids which she was struggling with a little at the playground. She's learning things there that I can't teach her at home.. unless she has a sibling which she doesn't. But it's alright. I'll be working until the beginning of May and I won't feel so bad about her being there. Lastly.. Mom thinks Terina might have Chicken Pox. The doctor here seems to think she's fine but he didn't even look at her bites, he just gave her more antibiotics to take. I don't know... her doctor is nothing like the ones she had in Tacoma. I miss them...... We'll see how she is tomorrow and we'll probably take a trip to Queens Medical in town to get a real diagnosis.
