Today
Terina went to her first Primary activity. It was an amazing activity and so much thought and preparation was put it to the activity.
The kids entered into the foyers and it was set up like an airport. They went to a table and got their little passport necklaces. They were then arranged into little groups and one by one, the groups left the foyer. While the groups left, the others were just hanging around... much like you do at an airport.
It was finally Rena's turn to "board" the airplane. They followed footsteps down the hall and began to "Board the Airplane." Once in the place they were told where they were going and why. They were on their way to Jerusalem to learn about Jesus and meet people who were very close to him. They watched a short movie and even had an "in flight" snack of water and pretzels.
Once they "arrived" in Jerusalem they had to go and meet Peter. Peter talked to the kids about the sacrament and what it represented. They learned about the
Crucifixion and why we celerbrate Easter. From there they were able to visit the tomb where Jesus was buried. They rolled the rock away and looked inside.
After they looked for Christ they went to see Mary. The sister that played Mary brought tears to my eyes. She was soft spoken and very nice. She had the full attention off all the kids. They wanted to hear everything she said.
The kids met Thomas and also a modern day apostle of Christ.
After the plane ride they went into the gym to color. They made cards for kids who live on the beach and then put together candy bags for them as well. It was a great service that the primary kids were doing. Some of them didn't quite get the fact that they were doing something so special for someone who doesn't have all the privilages as we might. I was so happy that Terina understood that she was doing something for someone who wasn't going to have an Easter basket. Throughout the day she would bring up different things that they talked about at the activity today. I'm so happy that she has just a great love for the Savior and that she is beginning to understand what a great sacrifice He made for us.
After going to the beach we drove to Kalihi to find the Polynesian Market that sells cooked food. We found it, bought our food and then drove to Waikiki to eat at a park.
The park was right across the street from the zoo and the only way we could keep Terina from wanting to go to the zoo was to go to the pond!
There was a large band stand in the middle of the park. We were taking pictures on the bench and then noticed that there were a bunch of homeless people sleeping on them! So we took off.
