Berry Picker

Today we were on a mission to find some strawberries to make freezer jam for Grandpa. We had been looking for a place to go and pick them on the internet but weren't finding anything that was in the area but Grandma knew that if we drove down River Road we would come across something. So that's just what we did!

We found Duris Farms and we were able to go out back and pick some berries. Terina was really excited and I know that my mom had been wanting to do this with her so I think she was a little excited too. Terina had a hard time staying in one row and picking berries. She was all over the place!
I think Manamea had the hardest job. She had to sit in the strawberry field and try to NOT eat the rotten ones. All them strawberries gave her some bubble gut at the end of the day but that was alright. I couldn't remember the last time she had a good poop so maybe it was for the better that she just sat there and ate.

Terina and Grandma picked about 13 pounds of berries. I didn't think there were that many in the two little boxes that they picked but I guess we were out there for about an hour. Terina was very proud of the berries she picked. I'm just glad that she finally finished something she started. Even though we did help her out a little bit she picked a majority of that box all by her self. It doesn't matter that there were some rotten ones in there or that she tore half the plant off with a few of the berries....the point was that she had a job and she finished it. She doesn't do that too often...especially when things get hard she tends to throw in the towel a little earlier than I'd like.
And here and the 3 Stooges after picking their strawberries. They picked a total of 13 pounds! Now to get the berries home, washed and smashed for some jam. We'll see what tomorrow brings and how the jam turns out.
Terina is pretty excited to be doing this with her Grandma. She loves doing little projects and I'm glad that she's able to spend time with Grandma too. You never k now when we'll be moving out and who knows where we'll go.
