SAMOA.... Day 8

Today Kasala took us back to Palolo Deep to swim. We asked Terina what she wanted to do today and she said swimming. I'm glad Kasala did something that Terina wanted to do and I'm glad he came with me. Manamea came too this time. She loved the water. She was splashing around and having fun. We saw some fish in the water too. Manamea didn't last long in the water. She ended up taking a nap under a tree while the rest of the kids played. It was a nice breezy day so I'm sure she had a nice sleep.

After swimming we went to get carpet for the house. When Kasala said carpet I was thinking nof carepet like we have at home. But in reality it was more like this vinyl type of flooring. It took a roll and then some to cover the living room area. The stuff cost about 130 Tala for 20 meters. I keep writing down prices because I think that some of the prices are just out of control. Even if you convert it to US dollars the prices are still high. I find myself converting everything because I want to know how much I'm paying.

Diapers, or nappys as they are called here, only come in a few brands. I wish there was a Babies R Us or at least a Walmart around so I could buy some diapers! For a small pack of Huggies, which was the only brand that I recognized, was 35 tala. They do have other brands and there were a few bags opened so I looked at them and they reminded me of the plastic diapers that Terina has for her dolls. I had to pass on thouse and suck up the price of the Huggies.

Other than swimming we really didn't do much. Next week will be full of things to do. I'm really looking forward to doing things with the family. Tomorrow we are going out with Kasala's friend Wayne and his wife. We are going to Piula caves to go swimming!
